GHHG Webinar: "The current situation in DR Congo – more than Ebola"
We start our webinar series on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 from 3:30 – 4:30 pm.
Dr. Gisela Schneider, Director of the German Institute for Medical Mission (Difäm) and a member of the interim steering committee of the Hub, and Prof. Dr. August Stich, Chief Physician and Head of the Tropical Medicine Department at the Missionsärztliche Klinik Würzburg, will provide an input on the current situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Ebola outbreak.
For over a year, the Ebola epidemic has been rife in the east of the DRC. Despite the ebola vaccine and effective drugs, there is still no end in sight for the epidemic. Dr. Gisela Schneider and Prof. Dr. August Stich were both in the region this summer. On site, they also visited church hospitals and discovered causes of the problem. In the webinar they will explain in more detail what Ebola has to do with raw materials, violence against women and peace and how important the participation of the local community and strong health systems are for the fight against Ebola.
After the webinar, there will be an opportunity for questions and exchange.
